🥇 Gold at $4,489. RSI at 71.3 (OVERBOUGHT). But it just surged +2.92% in a single day. Do you fight this momentum?
Here's the dilemma:
📊 Gold's Current State:
• Price: $4,489.30 (near 3-month high of $4,718)
• RSI: 71.3 (officially overbought)
• Trend: Strong uptrend across all timeframes
• Volume: Normal at 1.05x — NOT a blow-off top
• Above ALL key moving averages (5/10/20/50-day)
🧠 Why Gold Is Ripping:
When equities sell off and fear dominates (sound familiar? FGI at 30 in crypto), money flows to safety. Gold is the ultimate fear trade. Central bank buying, geopolitical hedging, and dollar weakness are all fueling this run.
📍 Key Levels:
• Support: $4,335 (5-day MA — and rising fast)
• Major support: $4,165 (50-day MA)
• Resistance: $4,552 (recent resistance) then $4,718 (3-month high)
• Only 4.9% below the 3-month peak
💡 The Overbought Problem:
RSI at 71 says "this is extended." But in strong trends, RSI can stay overbought for WEEKS. The question isn't whether gold is overbought — it is. The question is whether the momentum is strong enough to push through.
⚠️ My Take:
I'm NOT adding to long positions here. The risk of a pullback to $4,300-$4,350 is real. But I'm also not shorting this — fighting a strong uptrend because RSI says overbought is how traders blow up.
If you're long: trail your stops. If you're flat: wait for a pullback.
