8 月 22 日 22:50 UTC 左右，KiiChain 检测到攻击，随后暂停网络，阻止了漏洞继续被利用，事故大约发生在区块高度 #9,355,723 附近，攻击者一共重复利用了 18 次
随后 8 月 23 日凌晨，官方第一次确认问题出在 EVM module，部分资金经由 Hyperlane 转移到 BNBChain，几小时后，官方将根因定位到共享的 Cosmos EVM module，并称事件已经被控制，其他受支持网络未受影响
总量约 148.3M 的 $KII 受到影响，其中约 80.7M $KII 留在了链上，官方称可以通过恢复升级迁移到 recovery wallets，67.6M KII 已跨到 BNB Chain，另有 3M 进入 KuCoin，已请求冻结
时间到了 8 月 28 日，KiiChainio 宣布网络恢复出块，并进入完全可用状态
官方表示底层问题已经修补，网络完成加固，链状态也在重新上线前经过验证，同时并没有用户资金损失，并已追回了大部分受影响代币
