My bank died before I paid for the unboxed thermos
In September 2025, we were harvesting apples
We took tea in a thermos because our apple orchard was far from our home
By the time we served the tea it was cold
So I decided to buy a thermos which keeps the tea hot, After few days I went to a crockery shop, I asked for a good thermos
He showed me a Milton thermos and said the tea will remain hot for 24 hours
After bargaining the price settled at 1700 INR
I opened it from a box before I paid to the shopkeeper
I found the quality was good and it was time to pay for it
I asked him for a payment option and he showed a PhonePe QR code
I opened my GPay and started the payment
It failed because my SBI bank server was down
I tried many times but the same issue stayed
I could pay with cash, but I had no cash with me
After that I called my friend who was using another bank for a payment but he said he had no money at that time
I had no way to leave from there, because I had already unboxed the thermos and told him to pack it
Now I had only one way and that was "pay with stablecoins"
I already had some $USDC in my wallet
So I opened my wallet and made the 19.42 $USDC order through P2P and sent the shopkeeper's QR Code to the buyer
The buyer paid the shopkeeper's, not mine
Transaction took 1 minute 14 seconds to complete, I asked the shopkeeper to check
He said ok, I received it
This was the moment when stablecoins saved me
The bank server was down, even my friend could not help me, but USDC still let me complete the 1700 INR transaction
If the stablecoins were not the option, i don't know what I would have done in that situation where the thermos was out of box and shopkeeper was waiting for payment
