NEAR's selloff is not decay. It is an overpaid beta unwinding.
This morning's gap is beta-sized: BTC +0.27%, $NEAR -0.43%, exactly 1.6 times.
The week was not. Seven days: NEAR at -16.4% against BTC's -2.1%. Beta was 1.59, so the allowance was -3.4%. NEAR printed 4.9 times it, because a narrative gets paid twice: when it is bought, and when it dies.
Three days invert it. NEAR -7.5%, BTC -5.7%: same beta, a budget of -9.0%, NEAR used 0.83 of it. The gap went from 14.3 points to 1.8 — eight times tighter.
$SUI sits 2.0 points behind BTC this week, $SOL 3.7 — both already at their beta. NEAR was the last premium, and it is spent.
December's rate path dominates the board; a repricing there is pure beta — it does not care which L1 has an AI roadmap. I am waiting, no position. If NEAR's three-day gap widens past 8 points while BTC goes nowhere, I will drop this.
Not financial advice.
Is a laggard that stops lagging strength arriving, or a story finishing?
