Leverage Explained Simply

Leverage is a tool. Used right it grows your gains. Used wrong it wipes your account fast.

What is leverage. It lets you trade a bigger position than the money you put in. You put in 100 USDT. With 5x leverage you control a 500 USDT position. The exchange lends you the rest.

Same trade. Price goes up 5%.
1x leverage. Position 100 USDT. Profit 5 USDT.
5x leverage. Position 500 USDT. Profit 25 USDT.
10x leverage. Position 1000 USDT. Profit 50 USDT.

Now the other side. Losses grow the same way. At 10x a 5% drop costs you 50 USDT. A drop of about 10% erases your full 100 USDT. That is called liquidation. Higher leverage puts liquidation closer to your entry.

So how much leverage should you use. Do not pick the leverage first. Pick your stop loss first. Then let the math choose the leverage.

The simple method with 100 USDT.

Step 1. Decide the most you accept to lose on one trade. Say 5 USDT. That is 5% of your account.

Step 2. Place your stop loss 1% away from your entry.

Step 3. Position size is 5 divided by 1% which equals 500 USDT. That is 5x leverage on 100 USDT.

Now look at the result.
If price hits your stop you lose 5 USDT.
If price hits a 3% target you win 15 USDT.
You risk 5 to make 15.

Even if you are wrong 6 times out of 10 you still come out ahead. 4 wins give 60 USDT. 6 losses cost 30 USDT. You are up 30 USDT.

That is how you build solid gains. Not from huge leverage. From a small risk and a bigger reward.

Safe leverage guide.
Beginners stay at 2x to 5x.
Experienced traders stay at 5x to 10x with a tight stop.
20x and above leaves almost no room. One normal wick can liquidate you.

Rules to protect your account.
Always use a stop loss. It must trigger long before liquidation price.
Use isolated margin so one bad trade cannot take your whole balance.
Never risk more than 2% to 5% of your account on one trade.
Never add leverage after a loss to win it back.

Leverage does not make you right. It only makes the result bigger. Protect capital first. Gains come after that.

Trading carries risk and you can lose your money.
