BTC: Are Whales Preparing for $81K–$82K, or Is a Short Squeeze Coming?
Whale activity is sending mixed signals, and that’s exactly why the current BTC setup deserves attention.
On November 3, a major Hyperliquid address made a significant move:
* Reduced its ETH short by 10,394.62 ETH.
* Opened a 291.401 BTC long.
* Still held 9,537.09 ETH short and 191.2 BTC long, according to the reported snapshot.
Meanwhile, data reported on November 5 showed that among 300 large wallets:
* BTC Long exposure: approximately $351M.
* BTC Short exposure: approximately $749.1M.
On the sentiment side, Binance Social Sentiment showed 65.7 Bullish, following an earlier reading of 78%.
What does this tell us?
We have positive social sentiment, significant whale activity in BTC longs, but also substantial short exposure.
This creates two possible scenarios:
1. A bullish breakout could trigger a short squeeze, potentially accelerating BTC toward $81K–$82K.
2. Continued selling pressure could invalidate the bullish setup and expose overleveraged long positions.
My takeaway: Whale positioning is worth watching, but it is not a guarantee of direction.
Open Interest, Funding Rates, volume and price action will be crucial for confirmation.
The market doesn’t reward assumptions. It rewards patience, timing and risk management.
What do you think: Are we approaching a short squeeze, or are the whales positioning for another downside move?
