12,226 $ZEC is still sitting in Zcash's oldest privacy pool, and it has about 17 hours to get out.

That's roughly $16M. When the NU7 upgrade activates, Zcash stops accepting the only transaction type that can spend from Sprout, the pool it launched with in 2016. The coins stay in the supply and the keys still work. The coins just never move again, unless some future upgrade decides to rescue them.

A week ago Sprout held about 22,263 ZEC. Most of the exit happened on Sunday. On Wednesday, 40 ZEC left.

At Wednesday's pace the pool would need about 305 more days to empty. It has roughly 825 blocks, which at one every 75 seconds puts the switch near 10:30 UTC+8 on Friday. After that, blocks come every 25 seconds.

Old addresses starting with "zc" are the ones on the clock. Whatever is still there by Friday morning becomes the safest ZEC on the chain, safe even from its owner.
