Tonight's close is the one I'm actually watching — not today's bounce. $BTC went from a $75,600 dip on the midterm results to about $78,300 by the afternoon, per CoinDesk and Binance's market update, and the rebound was broad: DeFi tokens led it, up around 5%, with INJ up 6.2% and VVV topping the CoinDesk 100 at about 7%.
But here's why I'm not upgrading this to a reversal yet. Even after the bounce, Bitcoin still sits below its 20-day average near $80,195 and its 50-day near $82,013, and the daily RSI is still only around 40 — better than oversold panic, nowhere near trend strength. CoinLab's base case for the next 24 hours is sideways between $76,500 and $79,500, and honestly that matches what the tape is telling me: a market that bought the dip but hasn't yet found a reason to chase.
So the setup into Friday is clean, and it's a two-door question. If Bitcoin holds tonight above roughly $78,000 and pushes through $78,720, the path opens to $79,000 — which is also Friday's options-expiry max pain level — and then $79,750. That's the door to an $80K test before the weekend. The other door is a close back under $75,740, today's defended low: that would tell me the midterm dip-buying was a one-day event, and $74,000 becomes the next stop.
My lean is the boring one: we hold the range into Friday's jobs report, and the print picks the door. A soft print delays the December hike talk and favours the $79,500 test; a strong one sends us back toward $76,500 first. What kills my view is a daily close under $75,740 — until then, I'm treating this as a range to trade, not a trend to chase.
Which door do you see opening first — the $79,750 test, or a trip back to $74,000? Not financial advice.
