🇺🇸 CFTC Approves Equity Perpetual Futures on U.S.-Regulated Exchanges — A Major Milestone for TradFi
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has approved equity perpetual futures on regulated U.S. exchanges, extending the crypto-native derivatives model to traditional stocks.
Unlike conventional futures, perpetual contracts have no expiration date and use funding rates to track underlying asset prices. Following the earlier approval of Bitcoin perpetual futures, the new equity products fall under joint CFTC–SEC oversight, marking a significant step in regulatory coordination.
The bigger picture: Crypto-native trading mechanisms are entering traditional finance. Regulated equity perpetuals could accelerate the convergence of Wall Street, 24/7 derivatives markets and the broader RWA ecosystem.
