Consensys wants banks to settle across separate blockchains without ever moving assets onto a bridge.

At Devcon in Mumbai on November 2, 2026, Consensys unveiled Sovereign Network Interoperability, a technology stack for banks, custodians and asset managers that run their own ledgers. An institution sets what it wants to do, with which approved counterparties and under which settlement rules; the software picks a route, coordinates execution on each ledger and tracks the result.

At its core is the Cross Ledger Interoperability Protocol (CLIP), built on years of zero-knowledge research. Assets stay on their native ledgers while cross-ledger activity is verified cryptographically. Target use cases include collateral mobility, tokenized securities settlement, cross-currency payments and moving idle cash into tokenized money market funds. EVM networks are supported now, with Canton connectivity planned, a fresh signal for $ETH as the base layer for institutional finance.
