🇧🇬🇷🇺 Bulgaria just elected a president who wants a reset with Russia.

Iliana Yotova won yesterday’s runoff with 57.6% of the vote, beating a pro-Western former prime minister.

She opposes military aid to Ukraine, says peace can only come through negotiations and is expected to back lifting sanctions on Russia.

Her job is mostly ceremonial, though she can still veto laws and appoint caretaker governments.

And she won’t be pushing alone, since her longtime ally is prime minister and his government has already stopped sending Ukraine weapons from army stocks.

That gives Moscow one more friendly voice inside the EU.
