Why hackers still can't touch Satoshi Nakamoto's wallet🧵👇
1.096 million BTC, worth $84.78 billion, locked away for 17 years already.
1. No unified master password—it's 21,900 independent private keys in total
The wallets we use today mostly rely on a single set of 12 mnemonic words—a single key unlocks all assets.
But back in 2009, that system didn't exist yet. Satoshi used the earliest Bitcoin 0.1 client version, which generated a brand-new, completely unrelated set of private keys for every 50 BTC mined.
In other words, his 1.096 million BTC is scattered across 21,900 independent keys. Even if a hacker or AI luckily cracks one set, they'd only snag 50 BTC at most—the remaining 21,899 private keys? Not a single clue to go on.
