Experts recently met in Cambridge to organize joint research on upgrading cryptography to withstand quantum attacks. This collaboration is driven by the significant vulnerability that quantum computing presents to the cryptographic methods currently protecting blockchains. In addition, rapid developments in artificial intelligence are continuously shortening the estimated timeframe for when this technological risk will materialize.
