🚨 CRYPTO HAS ONE BIG PROBLEM: MOST PEOPLE ONLY THINK ABOUT SECURITY AFTER SOMETHING GOES WRONG.

Today’s headlines are a reminder that crypto risk isn’t just about buying BTC at the wrong price.

Security incidents can trigger fear, volatility and difficult questions about where your assets are actually held.

And there’s a lesson here that applies to everyone — whether you hold $100 or $100,000.

1. NOT YOUR KEYS, NOT YOUR COINS?

Keeping assets on an exchange is convenient for trading, but it also means relying on the platform’s security and withdrawal systems.

Self-custody gives you more control, but it comes with responsibility: lose your recovery phrase, and recovering your funds may be impossible.

Neither option is risk-free.

2. WHAT I WOULD DO RIGHT NOW

🔐 Enable a passkey or strong two-factor authentication.

🛡️ Use withdrawal allowlists where available.

📩 Never trust messages asking for your seed phrase or claiming to be urgent support.

💰 Avoid keeping all your funds in one place if you don’t need them there for trading.

3. WHAT ABOUT BITCOIN?

A security incident involving an exchange doesn’t automatically mean Bitcoin’s underlying network is compromised.

But fear can spread across the market, pushing traders to reduce risk and creating additional volatility.

That’s why I watch both price action and the reason behind the move.

MY TAKE

We spend hours researching which coin could deliver the next 2x.

But sometimes, protecting what you already have is the most valuable move you can make.

In crypto, making money matters.

Keeping it matters just as much.

❤️ If you made it this far, a like and follow would mean a lot. It costs you nothing, but helps me keep creating useful crypto content.
