Robinhood's AI agents are live. The number that matters is $250M in deposits.
In its Q3 results, Robinhood said about 200,000 customers have opened Agentic Trading Accounts, generating over $1.6B in notional volume to date. A big chunk of X read that as "AI agents are taking over trading." I think the more honest number is the deposits: Vlad Tenev said these accounts hold a bit over $250M. They start at zero, so every dollar there is a deliberate choice. Still, it's a small slice of a platform with roughly $396B in assets.
The guardrails matter too. Agents can only use money moved into that separate account, and each trade needs the user's approval unless they switch it off. Robinhood didn't say how many people have switched it off, and that's the figure I'd want before calling this "autonomous" trading.
My take: agents are mostly a new way to place orders, not new demand yet. Robinhood Chain, its Ethereum L2, is the onchain side worth watching. $ETH is hovering near $2,300 after the Fed hold, and I'm watching whether any of it shows up in ETH.
