Thailand has introduced WORPT, a digital wallet that lets foreign visitors convert USDT, USDC and other stablecoins into baht and pay local merchants through the QR PromptPay network. According to ChainCatcher, Waan Exchange and Wipay developed the app under the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Tourist Digipay regulatory sandbox. Merchants receive payment in baht through standard payment systems and do not directly accept cryptocurrency. WORPT also plans to offer physical and virtual Visa prepaid cards that would use the same baht balance as QR payments. The project plans to hold an official launch event in November 2026 and must comply with the sandbox’s identity verification, transaction monitoring and anti-money laundering requirements.
