Korea's Won Is Heading Onchain via Injective: What's Real and What's Still an MOU

One of the busier threads on X this morning: Injective signed an MOU with BDACS, the issuer of KRW1, to make it the won-denominated settlement asset for tokenized RWAs on Injective.

The facts worth knowing. KRW1 is backed 1:1 by Korean won held as cash at a Tier 1 Korean bank. Minting and redemption are limited to approved institutional partners, subject to regulatory approval. And today KRW1's live networks are Ethereum, Avalanche and Arc, not Injective. So this is a plan, not a live integration yet.

Why it still matters: Korea's five largest exchanges have seen net stablecoin outflows for 18 straight months, mostly into dollar stablecoins. A compliant won rail would let Korean institutions settle tokenized assets without the FX round trip through USD. The real catalyst is the Digital Asset Basic Act, which the government aims to finalize by the end of 2026.

$INJ trades around $7.94, up about 3.4% in 24h, while $BTC is flat near $80K. I'd treat the partnership as a slow-burn story: the token reacts to headlines, but value only shows up once KRW1 actually mints on Injective and RWA volume settles in won.

What I'm watching: the final text of the Korean stablecoin law, and the first onchain KRW1 supply on Injective.
