Bitcoin mining’s next bottleneck may be software, not just hardware.
Tether says 15 mining operators, ASIC makers and pools—including Bitdeer, BITMAIN, Canaan, F2Pool and Foundry—have committed to build and maintain integrations for its open-source Mining Development Kit (MDK). The shared interface is designed to let applications work across otherwise separate equipment and pool systems. Tether says its own QVAC mining agent is already operating on MDK.
Important distinction: these are commitments to build “Workers,” translation layers for each participant’s systems—not 15 completed integrations. Tether is targeting a stable MDK 1.0 release by year-end.
Could a common software layer make mining automation easier across vendors? The answer will depend on how many integrations actually ship.

Conclusion
$BTC mining may benefit from a common interface, but this is a commitment-led rollout—not proof of broad deployment yet.
