Phantom just turned a crypto wallet into a prediction market terminal for U.S. users.

Starting Oct 23, Phantom is rolling out Kalshi's CFTC-regulated event contracts inside its app, with access expanding over the coming weeks. Users complete KYC with Kalshi, fund trades with Phantom's CASH stablecoin or supported Solana tokens, and payouts return to their Phantom Cash account. The quoted fee is $0.02 per contract plus a small network fee.

My take: this matters more for distribution than for the product itself. Prediction markets already exist, but most people won't open a separate exchange to bet on an election or a Fed decision. Putting them one tap away from a self-custodial wallet is how "onchain finance" actually reaches normal users, and it gives stablecoins like CASH a real everyday use case.

The caveats are real too. Phantom is blocking some categories in Michigan, Nevada and Washington while state lawsuits play out, and thin markets can make cashing out hard even when a position shows a profit. Regulation is still the biggest swing factor here.

For $SOL, which was trading around $104 today, more consumer apps routing activity through Solana is a constructive long-term signal, but one launch won't move the needle overnight.

Would you trade event contracts from your wallet?
