Switzerland clears its first retail spot Bitcoin ETF — BIT’s BBIT targets a November SIX debut.

On October 21, 2026, Swiss regulator FINMA approved the country’s first spot Bitcoin ETF that invests directly in $BTC . On October 23, 2026, BIT Asset Management said Bitcoin Fund ETF (BBIT) should start trading on SIX Swiss Exchange in November, with the public offering limited to Switzerland. Unlike many European bitcoin ETPs that are debt notes carrying issuer risk, BBIT is a Swiss collective investment scheme with assets ring-fenced from the manager.

FINMA has allowed crypto basket funds since 2021, but this is its first Bitcoin-only approval, citing deeper trading history and volume. The fund sits in the “other funds for alternative investments” category with particular risk, and FINMA still stresses Bitcoin’s high volatility inside an ETF wrapper. Other issuers have applications pending.
