The XRPL's bug fix just got bounced — and the reason is the most XRP-thing ever.
fixCleanup3_4_0 was due tomorrow, 09:34 UTC Oct 23. But at Wednesday's 12:54 UTC checkpoint, only 26 of 35 trusted validators voted yes. The rule: above 80% — 29 of 35 — at every check for 14 straight days. One miss, even a two-hour wobble, and the clock resets.
Back at 29 by 14:46 UTC, fresh countdown running, support now 31 of 35 — two votes of cushion this time, zero last time. New date: November 4.
The patch closes a token-minting loophole plus vault and lending calculations. No funds at risk; the ledger runs on the old rules. The lending system still lacks the votes to start its own countdown.
No halt, no drama, just a calendar slip — governance working as designed. But one validator going quiet at the wrong minute can move a protocol deadline two weeks.
Is that rigidity a feature — or a tax on shipping fixes? NFA. DYOR.
