Samsung Electronics was granted a U.S. patent on October 20 for an electronic device and operating method that provide blockchain services. According to ChainCatcher, the technology lets a device identify nearby blockchain-enabled devices wirelessly, establish a peer-to-peer connection, compare the latest block heights stored on each device, and sync data from the device with the most recent blocks. The method is designed to reduce network traffic and energy use during synchronization.
