Lighter plans a US derivatives license application in November

An October 22 report says decentralized perpetuals platform Lighter told its third-quarter investor call that it plans to submit a derivatives license application to the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission in November 2026. Founder Vladimir Novakovski reportedly said the team had been communicating with regulators for approximately 11 months. The report also says Lighter has integrated with Robinhood Chain to offer perpetual trading and that Lighter Core accounts exceed one million.

The proposed filing is a company plan, not evidence that an application has already been submitted or that approval has been granted. The reported account count is not a count of verified individual users. Subsequent filing and regulatory decisions would be needed to establish progress beyond the announcement.
