Brad Gerstner, founder of Altimeter Capital and a key advocate of the Trump account plan, said the team is pushing legislation to expand eligibility to people under 40, with a bill potentially introduced in the coming months. According to Odaily, the proposal would allow funds to be used for retirement, education and entrepreneurship and could extend coverage to about 100 million additional people.

Gerstner said private donations to the accounts could total $100 billion by the end of 2027. Elon Musk has announced plans to give each U.S. child one share of SpaceX in 2027; based on the company’s current valuation, the shares would be worth nearly $11 billion in total and distributed through the account plan.

The accounts currently primarily serve U.S. citizens under 18, with funds invested in the stock market. Beneficiaries can use the money for education, home purchases, entrepreneurship and other purposes after turning 18. The proposed eligibility expansion requires legislation.
