HSBC Asset Management is reviewing whether to remove Palantir from its $9 billion Islamic Global Equity Index Fund after UK workplace pension schemes raised concerns about the company's inclusion. According to Sina Finance, Nest and the People's Pension contacted HSBC about the holding; Nest said senior staff had begun discussions after receiving questions, and the People's Pension has more than 7 million members. The fund bought $38.3 million of Palantir shares in the first half of this year while tracking the S&P Global 1200 Shariah Select Index. HSBC said it would assess whether its investment approach continues to meet investors' expectations and carefully review the matter.
