Could UNI futures bring more institutional attention to DeFi?

CME Group began trading Uniswap ($UNI ) futures on October 19, marking a notable development for the DeFi market.

Here’s what you need to know:

Standard contracts: 10,000 UNI

Micro contracts: 1,000 UNI

Settlement: Cash-settled, meaning traders don't receive actual UNI tokens.

My take: This gives market participants another way to gain price exposure to UNI through regulated futures markets without directly holding the token.

However, there's an important distinction: futures trading doesn't automatically mean fresh money is flowing into UNI or that its spot price will rise. These contracts can be used for hedging and speculation, and their impact on actual token demand remains uncertain.

What do you think? Could regulated UNI futures help bring more institutional participation into DeFi, or will their impact remain mostly limited to derivatives trading?
