Weekend price action was quiet. DXY settled near 101.82–101.91 after Friday’s 101.84 close, failing to hold the prior week’s 102.5+ spike. XAUUSD held the 4,165–4,185 zone (Friday close roughly 4,165). XAGUSD stabilized near 57.3. BTCUSD ranged 81,000–82,200. US10Y eased toward 5.06–5.10% from Friday’s ~5.10%. WTI held near 98 after a strong weekly run. USDVND ~25,860–25,895; VN-Index closed Friday near 1,706. No major US holiday—NY cash opens normal. Thesis: elevated yields and a firm dollar continue to cap hard-asset upside until data forces a clear DXY or yield break. Cash is a position.

Levels to open the week

Calendar (high impact only)

  • Monday: China Q3 GDP, industrial production, retail sales; Canada CPI (headline and core).

  • Tuesday: US housing starts and building permits (Sep); UK unemployment.

  • Wednesday: UK CPI (headline and core).

  • Thursday: US initial jobless claims; Japan CPI.

  • Friday: Flash PMIs (Germany, Eurozone, UK, US); University of Michigan final October sentiment.

No FOMC, US CPI, or NFP this week. Asia open is thin—do not treat the first four hours as conviction.

Three paths

A — Base: DXY holds 101.50–102.10 and US10Y stays 5.00–5.20%. Hard assets remain range-bound. Gold respects 4,150–4,200; BTC 80,500–84,000. Cash and selective hedges preferred until a clean break.

B — Bullish for hard assets: DXY daily close below 101.50 and/or US10Y loses 5.00% on soft China/Canada data or weaker flash PMIs. Gold can test 4,220+; BTC reclaims 84,000. Silver follows if gold holds. Yield compression is the trigger.

C — Bearish for hard assets: DXY reclaims and closes above 102.10 while US10Y pushes through 5.20–5.30% on sticky inflation prints (UK CPI, oil strength near 98–100). Gold breaks 4,150 and targets 4,100; BTC loses 80,500. High yields remain the opportunity cost for non-yielding assets.

Playbook

🥇Gold: Watch daily close versus 4,150 and 4,200. A sustained break either way sets the week; otherwise fade extremes. Silver is the higher-beta satellite—only act after gold confirms.

🟠Bitcoin: Range trader until 80,500 or 84,000 breaks on a daily close. ETF flow headlines matter less than the DXY/yields backdrop.

💲DXY observer: 101.50 and 102.10 are the week’s lines. Below 101.50 favors hard assets; above 102.10 favors the dollar and cash.

🗓️Monday rule: Asia and early London are thin. Do not force positions on the first four hours. Wait for New York participation and the China/Canada data reaction.

One-liner to pin

Elevated 5% yields and a firm dollar keep hard assets in check—cash remains a position until DXY or US10Y breaks cleanly.
