I’ve been thinking a lot about what is missing from the AI-agent narrative.

Agents can already research, analyze data, create workflows, and execute tasks. But without a safe way to hold identity, follow spending limits, and make payments, they are still dependent on humans at the final step.

That is why Kite caught my attention.

The interesting part is not just another AI or blockchain story. Kite is focused on the payment layer that could allow agents to pay for data, APIs, compute, and digital services within rules set by their owners.

For me, programmable spending rules are especially important. An agent should have autonomy, but it should not have unlimited access to funds. If owners can define limits, approved services, and permissions in advance, agents can act faster without removing human control.

This is the shift I am watching: AI moving from a tool that assists us to an economic participant that can transact responsibly.

If the agent economy grows, it will need payment rails built for agents—not systems designed only for humans. That is why I am keeping an eye on $KITE .
