The United States is seeing net inflows of Bitcoin while exporting digital dollars across the globe.

U.S. institutions are purchasing $BTC via ETFs and holding them in long-term custodial vaults, while domestic retail investors are selling. As a result, BTC is flowing from retail wallets into the vaults of large institutions.

At the same time, $USDT and $USDC are flowing in the opposite direction toward the rest of the world, particularly into developing economies that lack USD payment rails, such as those used for P2P trade settlements and cross-border supply chains.

The GENIUS Act of 2025 requires that legal stablecoins be 100% backed by U.S. Treasuries. Each dollar of $USDC or $USDT circulating abroad is, in essence, a U.S. Treasury dollar exported in token form.

Meanwhile, the United States continues to accumulate $BTC , which has a fixed total supply of 21 million coins. The total size of the U.S. domestic crypto economy in 2026 remains at $2.78 trillion, a mere 2.2% decline from its peak, retaining 97.8% of the capital accumulated since 2025.

Institutions have been quietly purchasing BTC even as the market has grown concerned about high interest rates and ETF outflows. Only one or two years later did I realize how apt the saying, 'Buy when others are fearful,' truly is for this particular level.
