A trading instruction can reveal part of your plan before the trade even happens.$NIL

Nillion’s Covenants offer a way to keep that instruction encrypted while it waits for a condition, such as a chosen price.

Think of a sell instruction waiting for that price to be reached. Nodes hold encrypted shares of the instruction, and enough shares are needed to open it. One node does not need to hold the whole secret.

Dusk, the first Covenants release is already live on Ethereum mainnet.

There is a detail worth knowing. In private-condition mode, people watching the blockchain cannot read the trigger. The nodes checking it still can.

Neon, a later stage in Nillion’s seven-era roadmap, aims to hide the condition from those nodes too. That is something planned for a future release.

The protection has limits. Enough nodes working together could open an instruction early, and its contents become public after release.

For someone using Covenants, choosing the nodes and deciding how many shares are needed to open an instruction are part of protecting the plan.
