Is the $80K sell-off a floor—or just a pause? Glassnode’s latest read is cautiously constructive, not conclusive.
At 11:49 UTC on Oct. 16, Glassnode said BTC sellers capitulated again on Oct. 15. It noted that similar loss-selling bursts in early August, mid-August and mid-September coincided with local lows, and said profit-taking has eased since September’s high. Its key qualifier is “if the pattern holds.” That is an interpretation of past behavior—not confirmation that the current correction is over.
**What the chart shows**
Binance BTC/USDT spot was $82,359.19 at 12:11 UTC, up 1.82% over 24 hours. The verified 24-hour range was $79,800.00–$82,940.81. BTC has rebounded from the low but remains inside that range. On Binance’s 15-minute chart, the recent six-hour range was $81,842.20–$82,940.81; the last completed candle (11:45–12:00 UTC) closed at $82,640.73, below the range high.
**Conditional 15-minute scenario—not a futures signal**
A continuation case would require a 15-minute close above $82,940.81 followed by a retest that holds. A simple one-range-width projection points to about $84,039.42; this is a mechanical measured-move reference, not verified resistance or a guaranteed target. Invalidation: a failed retest or 15-minute close back below $82,940.81. Until the range high is reclaimed, there is no confirmed breakout setup. The $81,842.20 six-hour low and $79,800.00 24-hour low are support references, not assurances they will hold. No futures entry is triggered here, and funding, basis and liquidation data were not assessed. Leverage can magnify losses and lead to liquidation.
What would make this possible floor more convincing to you: the on-chain pattern, or a confirmed reclaim of the range high?
**Conclusion:** Glassnode’s short-term-floor thesis is worth watching, but BTC has not confirmed it. Treat the data as context, not a promise.
