Day 2 of My Crypto Learning: Understanding Ethereum ($ETH ) 📚
Yesterday I learned Bitcoin. Today: Ethereum, and how it is different 👇
💻 What is Ethereum?
Ethereum is a blockchain, like Bitcoin. But it can do more than send money.
• Ethereum = the network
• ETH = the coin used on it
🤖 What are smart contracts?
Think of a vending machine. You put in a coin and get your snack automatically. No shopkeeper needed.
A smart contract works the same way: a small program on the blockchain that runs by itself when the conditions are met.
⛽ What is ETH used for?
ETH pays small fees to run these programs. It is like fuel for the network.
📅 Quick facts
• Idea: 2013, by Vitalik Buterin (with co-founders)
• Launched: 30 July 2015
• Since September 2022, it uses much less energy
⚖️ Bitcoin vs Ethereum
🪙 Bitcoin = digital money. It holds and sends value. Max 21 million coins.
💻 Ethereum = an app platform. Developers build programs on it. No fixed maximum.
Example:
• Bitcoin: send a payment from A to B.
• Ethereum: “If you pay, you automatically get the ticket.”
Different does not mean better. They solve different problems.
⚠️ Smart contracts can have bugs, and prices can swing a lot. This is learning, not financial advice.
Day 3: wallets and private keys. Do you already use a wallet? 👇
