According to CNBC, SpaceX has agreed to testify before the New York City Council on Friday at 10 a.m. ET after the council issued a subpoena to Elon Musk and SpaceX's AI unit over artificial intelligence safety risks. The council said the hearing will be held before its tech committee, after SpaceX did not appear at a hearing on Oct. 5 where Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and Meta testified. Council Speaker Julie Menin said SpaceX agreed to appear two days after the council said it intended to seek enforcement of the subpoena by a judge. The council said its investigation is aimed at assessing whether risks to public safety, cybersecurity, economic stability, privacy, consumers and businesses require immediate legislative action to protect New Yorkers.
