$Bitcoin Trader Faces $450,000 Drawdown After Long and Short Positions Backfire

Crypto trader AguilaTrades reportedly suffered significant losses after two consecutive Bitcoin trades moved against his positions.

The trader initially entered a long position at $82,823 before exiting at $81,940, realizing a loss of approximately $300,000.

Shortly afterward, he opened a short position involving 200 BTC at around $81,743. However, Bitcoin’s subsequent recovery left the position with approximately $150,000 in unrealized losses.

According to the report, his trading capital declined from $700,000 to approximately $250,000, representing a drawdown of more than 64%.

The situation highlights a critical risk in leveraged trading: switching market direction does not necessarily reduce exposure to volatility.

In highly volatile markets, position sizing and risk management can matter more than predicting the next price movement.
