$APT just ended its 4-year insider selling schedule today.
On October 12, Aptos hit its 4th mainnet anniversary and formally closed the vesting cycle for core contributors and initial investors. This was the last major unlock under the genesis schedule.
Why this matters for traders:
Monthly issuance drops from 11.31M APT to 4.54M APT, a ∼60% cut in scheduled supply. The two largest seller cohorts are now off the calendar: 190M APT allocated to core contributors and 134.78M APT to early backers, 32.48% of the 1B genesis supply, which vested with a 12-month cliff then monthly through month 48. Final tranche landed September 12.
After today, only Community and Foundation pools remain, releasing 1/120th monthly through 2032. On-chain governance Proposal #183 adds to the story: 210M APT locked and permanently staked, 2.1B APT hard cap, staking rewards cut from 5.19% to 2.6%, and gas fees raised 10x with full burn.
This does not remove all pressure. ∼763M APT remains staked, still minting ∼19.8M APT per year, and 1.196B APT is already circulating. The Foundation bets that burns from Decibel perpetuals and higher fees will outpace emissions.
What to watch: APT/USDT spot volume on Binance around $0.82-0.84 support, staking ratio and real burn data, and whether the first smaller unlock this week holds without extra sell pressure. While $BTC fights $681M in weekly ETF outflows, supply-side tightening like this is easy to miss.
Risk remains: unlocks are often priced in early and demand still has to show up.
Are you positioning for reduced supply pressure on $APT or waiting for burn metrics to confirm?
