💥 $1 Billion in Crypto Longs Wiped Out. Altcoins Took the Worst of It
Over $1 billion in leveraged longs have reportedly been liquidated in the past 24 hours, and the heatmap is a wall of red.
But look closer, because Bitcoin isn't the headline here. 👀
BTC is down less than 1% on the day, at about $82,000, after bouncing off a low near $80,300.
The real damage is in the alts:
NEAR -12%, PUMP -10%, ADA -7.8%, SUI -7.2%, UNI -7.1%, BCH -7%, AVAX -6.6%.
Only a handful, like ATOM and DOT, are green.
Nearly every chart shows the same shape: one sharp vertical drop at the same moment, then a partial recovery. That isn't a sudden change of opinion. That's leverage getting flushed all at once, with forced selling cascading across the market.
The gap between BTC and everything else is the lesson. In liquidation events, altcoins tend to fall several times harder than Bitcoin. Thinner liquidity and heavier leverage make them the first thing to break.
What to watch now:
Bitcoin holding the $80K zone it just defended.
Funding rates and open interest resetting lower, a sign the excess leverage is gone.
Which alts recover fastest, because relative strength after a flush often points to the next leaders.
Bloodbaths are painful, but they also clear the deck. Survive them first, then look for opportunity.
Flush complete, or more leverage left to burn? 🔥
