$BTC tests $80K: a bounce is likely, but the trend stays damaged below $83.3K 📉
Data as of 8 Oct 2026, 18:35 UTC.
I checked five signals, not one:
Macro (bearish): The 10Y yield is above 5.3% and Brent is above $100. The S&P hit a record on 6 Oct, but crypto isn't following it. Structure (mixed): BTC at $81.4K is below its 20-day average ($84.2K) but still above its 50-day ($80.5K). $ETH at $2,441 broke both. Momentum (oversold): 4H RSI is 27 for BTC and 15 for ETH. Bounces start from here, but oversold can stay oversold. Derivatives (flushed): BTC open interest is down 6.8% in 48h and funding is near zero. Leverage is no longer crowded. Flow (bearish): BTC's taker buy/sell ratio is 0.8, which means sellers are more aggressive. $NEAR and $ADA are each down about 15% in 3 days on above-average volume.
My view: Neutral to bearish. I want a daily close above $84.2K before trusting any bounce.
Levels: Support is $80.4K, then $75K. Resistance is $83.3K, $84.2K, then $87.2K.
I'm wrong if: BTC closes a day above $84.2K. The bounce case dies on a daily close below $80.4K.
A cautious trader might wait for a reclaim of $83.3K, or stay out until $80.4K holds on a daily close. Size small and use a stop.
