Bitcoin’s source code is open and available to everyone. In theory, any developer can copy it, modify certain parameters, and launch their own cryptocurrency. But would it become a second Bitcoin?
No! Bitcoin’s value comes not only from its code but also from its decentralized network, miners’ computing power, security, and the trust of millions of users.
A copy of Bitcoin would exist as a separate cryptocurrency with its own network and transaction history. It would not increase the original Bitcoin’s supply beyond its established limit of 21 million BTC.
🫶 You can copy the code, but you can’t copy Bitcoin itself!
