🚨 BREAKING NEWS: Pudgy Penguins’ Abstract becomes second Ethereum layer 2 to shut in a week
The company behind Pudgy Penguins, the digital collectibles and toy brand, is closing its Abstract blockchain after losing “tens of millions of dollars” funding it, becoming the second Ethereum-linked network in less than a week to announce a shutdown.
Abstract will stop operating Dec. 15. The team has told users to move their assets before then, warning that funds left on the network would become inaccessible.
Abstract is a so-called layer-2 network, a separate system that handles transactions cheaply and sends batches to Ethereum for verification. It launched in January 2025 with a bet that the Pudgy Penguins’ audience could bring ordinary consumers into cryptocurrency applications.
Pudgy Penguins began as a collection of cartoon penguin NFTs, digital collectibles whose ownership is recorded on a blockchain. It ranks among the most valuable NFT collections and has grown into a global brand spanning toys, games and merchandise, with products sold by retailers including Walmart and Target.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: Crypto's campaign arm, Fairshake, sets lists of U.S. House favorites it'll spend on
The crypto industry's leading political action committee, Fairshake, released another list of candidates it's supporting for the November elections, backing 13 Democrats and 19 Republicans — all incumbents — in their U.S. House of Representatives races.
The candidates tend to be safe bets to return to Congress, potentially further reinforcing the existing support for crypto policies in Congress. Atop all those names, six of them are getting a million dollars each in support from Fairshake and its affiliates, according to a spokesman for the super PAC.
“Fairshake has always been and always will be an issue-focused organization," said Spokesman Geoff Vetter in a statement. "We back pro-crypto candidates who support American innovation in both parties."
The top recipients on the Republican side are three well-known names in crypto circles, including French Hill, the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee who led the charge for crypto legislation in the House; Bill Huizenga, a senior member of that committee, and Bryan Steil, another member who also leads the subcommittee on digital assets.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: Ennis (EBF) Grows Sales but Earns Less. Are Legal Items Hiding a Better Business?
The above button links to Coinbase. Yahoo Finance is not a broker-dealer or investment adviser and does not offer securities or cryptocurrencies for sale or facilitate trading. Coinbase pays us for certain activity generated through this link. Prices displayed are informational.
Ennis, Inc. (NYSE:EBF) reported higher sales and lower earnings for the quarter ended August 31, 2026, but legal items complicate the comparison. The underlying business held up better than the headline profit decline suggests, while paper costs created genuine margin pressure.
The September 21 release showed revenue of $102 million, up 3.3% from $98.7 million. Net earnings fell to $9.4 million from $13.2 million. Investors need to distinguish the litigation effects from changes in demand, acquisition contributions, and production costs.
The prior-year quarter included a $5.3 million favorable litigation judgment, while the current quarter included an unrelated $700,000 litigation charge. Management said diluted earnings per share increased $0.02 after excluding these items from both periods. This non-GAAP comparison removes the specified litigation effects from reported diluted earnings per share.
