How Much Gold Has Humanity Ever Mined? 🤔 $XAU
It’s hard to imagine just how much gold humans have pulled from the ground.
🌍 Around 222,600 tonnes of gold have been mined throughout history, according to the World Gold Council.
Sounds massive, right?
But here’s the surprising part 👀
If all the gold ever mined were melted down and placed together, it would form a cube only about 22.5 meters on each side.
And where does all that gold go?
💍 ~45% is used in jewelry
🏦 The rest is held as bars, coins and reserves
⚙️ A portion is also used in electronics and other industrial applications
A relatively small physical volume… yet one of the world’s most valuable assets.
Gold is rare. That’s exactly what makes it fascinating. 🪙📈
