Hyperliquid co-founder Jeff Yan said self-custody and transparency, rather than around-the-clock trading, distinguish onchain markets from traditional exchanges. Yan said users' control of their funds matters when counterparties, intermediaries or custodians have problems. He said continuous trading still matters for assets whose reference markets close. Yan identified private markets as an opportunity for global price discovery.
