Cryptocurrency payments are officially making their way to South Korea, bringing exciting changes to the local financial landscape. In a significant recent development, an entire local-currency payment cycle was successfully executed on the OP Stack.

This achievement was made possible through a joint effort between @komsco, the Korea Minting, Security Printing, and ID Card Operating Corporation, and @toss__official, which is known as the largest fintech super app in Korea. The Toss platform is already utilized by a majority of Korean adults because it conveniently bundles a wide variety of services into a single application, providing users with everything from standard payments to insurance and loans.

During this initiative, the underlying technology facilitated a completely seamless transaction process. The system was able to load funds onto a certificate, process a purchase at a merchant, and finalize the settlement. Impressively, all of these steps were completed in just one single pass.

By uniting the advanced capabilities of the OP Stack with the expertise of KOMSCO, the official government body that prints the country's coins and banknotes, we are actively transforming everyday commerce. At the heart of this project is our ongoing commitment to helping small businesses in South Korea reduce their transaction fees and receive their payments much faster.
