🚨 QUANTUM COMPUTING JUST MOVED A STEP CLOSER TO BECOMING A REAL ISSUE FOR CRYPTO

The U.S. Department of Energy has launched the Quantum Genesis Q Competition, offering up to $215 MILLION to companies developing fault tolerant quantum computers, with a target of useful systems by 2028.

The first goal? At least 100 logical qubits capable of hundreds of millions of reliable operations.

For Bitcoin, this is NOT an immediate threat. Current estimates suggest roughly 1,200–1,450 logical qubits could be needed to break Bitcoin’s secp256k1 signatures using Shor’s algorithm.

But the message is clear.

Quantum computing is moving from laboratory experiments toward commercially useful machines, and the crypto industry cannot afford to wait until the threat arrives before preparing.

Bitcoin isn’t being cracked today.

But the countdown to the quantum era is becoming a lot more interesting.
