*Trend analysis for trading - the basics that work for anything*
stocks, crypto, forex, commodities... the process is the same.

### *1. The 3 types of trends*
- *Uptrend*: Higher highs + higher lows. Buyers are in control
- *Downtrend*: Lower highs + lower lows. Sellers are in control
- *Sideways/Range*: Bouncing between support and resistance. No clear direction

Rule: "Trade with the trend, not against it"

### *2. How to spot a trend*
*A. Price structure*
Look left on the chart. Are the peaks and valleys going up, down, or flat?

*B. Moving Averages - the classic*
- *50-day MA vs 200-day MA*: If 50 > 200 = bullish. If 50 < 200 = bearish
- *Price above 50/200 MA* = uptrend. *Below* = downtrend
- $BTC right now: it's testing the 50-week MA near $81K. That's why traders are watching it

*C. Trendlines*
Draw a line connecting the lows in an uptrend, or highs in a downtrend. As long as price respects it, trend is intact.

### *3. Confirm the trend is real*
Don't trust price alone. Check:
1. *Volume*: Uptrend should have higher volume on up days
2. *Momentum*: RSI > 50 in uptrends, < 50 in downtrends. BTC RSI is 78 now = strong but overbought
3. *Coinbase Premium / ETF flows*: For crypto, where the demand is coming from matters. Positive premium = US buyers pushing

### *4. When trends end / reverse*
Watch for:
- *Break of trendline* + close below it
- *Lower high* in an uptrend, or *higher low* in a downtrend
- *Divergence*: Price makes new high but $RSI.US # doesn't = momentum fading

### *5. Trading plan with trends*
Trend What to do What to avoid
**Uptrend** Buy dips to support, MA, or trendline Shorting just because "it's too high"
**Downtrend** Sell rallies to resistance Buying the dip too early
**Sideways** Buy support, sell resistance Using trend-following indicators
### *Quick checklist before any trade*
1. *What is the higher timeframe trend?* Daily/Weekly first
2. *Where is price vs MA?* Above = bias long, Below = bias short
3. *Is there a clear level to trade from?* Support, resistance, trendline
4. *What invalidates my idea?* Set that stop
