Ethereum core developers have moved account abstraction proposal EIP-8141 from “considering” to “scheduled,” confirming it as a key feature for the Hegotá upgrade. According to PANews, Ethereum developer nixo.eth said the proposal was first put forward in March as a headline upgrade item, and community consensus is that account abstraction should be included in Hegotá even though the implementation remains disputed.

In recent weeks, another proposal, EIP-8130, has emerged as a competitor and is planned for deployment on Base in September. The discussion has focused on avoiding a split in account abstraction standards between Layer 1 and Layer 2.

The authors of both EIPs and core developers are working to reach a unified approach without delaying the upgrade. The status change means the feature has formally entered Hegotá planning, although the final specification may still change significantly before launch.
