I’ve been looking deeper into @Dusk ’s tokenomics and hmm, the more I look at the emission curve, the less I think the usual “next unlock” narrative tells the full story.

$DUSK has a 1B max supply, but the remaining 500M isn’t waiting for some massive investor or team unlock.

It’s released gradually through the protocol.

The first 4 years emit around 250.48M DUSK at ~19.8574 DUSK per block, then that drops to ~9.9287 DUSK per block for years 4–8.

That’s actually quite different from the sudden supply shocks we usually focus on.

And the initial 500M was already fully vested back in April 2022.

So hmm, maybe the more interesting question now isn’t “when is the next unlock?”

It’s whether network activity can eventually grow fast enough to offset the #Dusk being newly issued for staking and security.

Hyperstaking also makes the staking side more flexible by allowing smart contracts to participate, while PLONK V2 adds another piece to the protocol’s evolution.

But there’s still one number I really want to see.

Actual network fees vs. newly emitted DUSK.

Because a slow emission curve can look sustainable on paper.

The harder question is whether real usage can eventually create enough economic value to absorb that supply.

That’s probably the metric I’d watch most closely from here.
