China's mutual fund industry continued to expand in the second quarter of 2026, with total public fund assets rising by more than 2 trillion yuan from the previous quarter to 39.67 trillion yuan, according to the Asset Management Association of China. Jiemian News reported that Orient Fund's non-money-market fund assets climbed to 153.448 billion yuan from 101.357 billion yuan at the end of the first quarter, up 51.39% quarter on quarter and lifting its industry ranking to 37th from 46th.

The article said the gains were driven mainly by active equity products. By the end of the second quarter, China's active equity fund assets reached 5.01 trillion yuan, up 992.4 billion yuan from the first quarter. Orient Fund's active equity assets rose by 28.33 billion yuan in the quarter, while several of its products posted strong first-half returns, including Orient Artificial Intelligence Theme, which had assets of 35.125 billion yuan and a second-quarter profit of 16.555 billion yuan. Fund manager Yan Kai oversaw 40.678 billion yuan in assets, ranking fifth among active equity fund managers, according to Jiemian News.

Orient Fund's total public fund assets reached 166.669 billion yuan at the end of June, up from 126.819 billion yuan at the end of 2025. Its bond funds rose to 97.949 billion yuan from 73.537 billion yuan at the end of the first quarter, while Orient Tianyi Bond and Orient Zhenbao Pure Bond had assets of 26.554 billion yuan and 16.909 billion yuan, respectively. The company said it has been advancing a digital transformation that applies big data and artificial intelligence to quantitative and index investment models.
