$DOT just killed the parachain auction model that locked up hundreds of millions in DOT for years, and it's up 17.02% this week off the back of it.
for years a parachain slot meant an auction, teams bonding huge stacks of DOT for months just to rent blockspace. that bottleneck is the single biggest reason new projects skipped Polkadot for cheaper, faster chains. now Polkadot's just renting blockspace directly, no auction, no locked bond.
that's the fix that should've happened three years ago. it's also why Moonbeam already bailed to Base before this landed, some teams weren't going to stick around to see if the new model works.
right now $DOT trades at $0.875, down off the 24h high of $0.924 and holding above the 24h low of $0.864. if it holds $0.864, i think this blockspace change starts pulling builders back and DOT pushes back toward $0.924. if it loses $0.864, i'm wrong on this and the fixed model doesn't matter, the market's telling you nobody cares yet.
holding $0.864 or losing it?
