What keeps bugging me about Dusk isn’t the Phoenix proof failing.

Its the proof holding up just fine... and the other side still saying no.

A lot of privacy-chain writing still acts like validity settles the room.

Phoenix proves the shielded-note transition. A viewing key can expose the required slice without opening the whole Phoenix path. Fine. Good.

Then settlement stalls.

Not because Phoenix broke.

Because the counterparty wants Dusk-side evidence the Phoenix proof doesn’t give them.

Phoenix note history. Timestamps. Why that viewing-key scope was enough. How the shielded leg reaches the Moonlight account. Whatever their risk desk needs before releasing funds.

That’s where Dusk gets annoying.

Because the proof can verify on Dusk and still not satisfy the counterparty expected to release the next leg.

Exchange. Custodian. Bank partner. Whoever has to credit the Moonlight-side account.

They aren't always asking whether the Phoenix transition was valid.

Sometimes they’re asking whether the Dusk leg gives them enough reviewable Phoenix evidence to approve their own release.

Credit the Moonlight account.
Release fiat.
Move collateral.
Clear the withdrawal.

The On dusk, ZK proof can validate the Phoenix note transition. DuskDS can settle the state.

Neither makes the counterparty accept the viewing-key packet.

So now what.

Now the trade sits there making everybody honest.

Settlement hold.
Moonlight leg delayed.
Viewing-key scope widened.
Disclosure packet updated.
Custodian still waiting.

Everybody suddenly pretending this was about the ZK proof... when really it’s about how much Phoenix disclosure the other side can demand before releasing funds.

Dusk can keep the Phoenix note path shielded. Fine.

Can it get the trade over the line once the proof is no longer the thing holding it back?

Because "the Phoenix proof verified" sounds solid right up until the counterparty says fine.

Then why are we still not settling?
