Wall Street Gets Nervous as Iran Sanctions Loom ⚠️

U.S. stocks slipped Monday as investors braced for new sanctions on Iran, adding another layer of uncertainty to an already tense week for global markets. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq both moved lower as traders assessed the potential economic fallout.

The biggest concern is the Strait of Hormuz. Any disruption to the crucial shipping route could put fresh pressure on global energy supplies, even as oil prices eased around 2% on Monday.

Investors are also facing a packed calendar. Nvidia’s earnings arrive Wednesday, while the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge is due the same day. Both could have a major influence on how markets view the AI trade and interest-rate outlook.

Bond markets are adding to the tension. Long-term Treasury yields have remained elevated, while the dollar is hovering near multi-month lows as investors worry about government debt and await details of the new Iran measures.

For investors, the setup is unusually crowded: geopolitics, inflation, interest rates and Nvidia are all competing for attention at once. That could make this week a major test of whether the stock-market rally still has enough momentum to absorb another shock.
